The Holden Family | Terry, MS Family Portrait Session

This family holds a very special place in my heart. They are a HUGE part of my husband’s testimony of how he met and surrendered to Jesus.

The story begins with Ben, Mr. Gary & Mrs. Jamie’s son. Ben was the first person to invite Lee to a men’s prayer breakfast at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Lee experienced the love of Jesus and began going to church at Hillcrest where he surrendered his life to the Lord. During this season of early faith and growing in the Lord, Mrs. Jamie became what Lee calls his “church mom.” She and Mr. Garry loved him well and showed him what a godly family looks like. They are all a huge part in Lee’s spiritual foundation, and I was so honored when Mrs. Jamie contacted me about taking family portraits for them while everyone was gathered for Thanksgiving!

Three generations including Mrs. Jamie’s mom, their two grown up kids, and six grandkids made this portrait session quite an adventure! We had a lot of fun chasing the littlest of the family and trying to get them to laugh and smile for the camera.

As I have prayed for your family, the Lord reminded me of 1 Peter 4:8-9 “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.” Mr. Gary & Mrs. Jamie, you love well and show hospitality like no other! I pray that these images are a blessing to you and your family. I also hope that I was able to freeze time and capture the memories of these precious little faces that are growing so fast. I hope these images will be a family treasure for generations to come.

The Massingill Family | A Fall Family Session | Parham Bridges Park, Jackson, MS

I woke up Friday morning to a torrential downpour. My heart sank as I thought about the family session I had planned with this beautiful family that afternoon. Before I even got out of bed, I checked multiple weather apps. All were in agreement that the rain should move out by lunch. I emailed Allison to share my findings and give her a few options: location change to avoid mud, or reschedule for a latter date. I was overjoyed when she replied choosing to brave the weather and go with my location choice of Parham Bridges Park! The walking trails would keep everyone out of the mud, and there are enough trees for the images to look like we are lost deep in the woods, giving them the outdoors feel they wanted!

I am SO THANKFUL they trusted me! Not only was the location perfect, but the Lord parted the clouds revealing the dreamiest light streaming through the trees!! This beautiful family + the dreamiest golden hour light = I had the hardest time narrowing down over 1,000 images to my favorite 20 for the blog!! Ok, so it was impossible. I finally got it down to 33!

The love this family has for one another is evident in through their joy and laughter! And Emerson, this precious girl!! She was the star of the show!!

Matt, Allison & Emerson, I have prayed for each of you as I have edited your images. The verse the Lord has given me for your family is Psalm 126:2 “Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. It was said among the nations, ‘The LORD has done great things for them.'” The Lord has indeed done great things for you, and  greater is yet to come! He has such big plans for your family! May the Lord continue to fill you with JOY and LAUGHTER all the days of your life!

Casalee Burroughs | Mini-Session | Highland Village

Casalee Burroughs, beloved daughter of God, Bride of Christ and warrior for His Kingdom! Your heart for Jesus is so beautiful and shines BRIGHTLY to everyone who meets you!

Several weeks ago I was hanging out in the Urban Sip, the coffee shop that is part of We Will Go Ministries. Casalee is a WWG missionary and barista in the Urban Sip. She recently graduated from Brandon High School, and will begin campus life at Belhaven University this fall. As we talked about my return to photography and growing a new business, she mentioned that she needed headshots for the Belhaven theatre department. She was preparing for a summer mission trip to Exuma, so we set a date shortly after her trip.  I was excited to get the shots that she needed, and hear about her trip!

Casalee is beautiful inside and out! Not only does she have flawless skin and enchanting eyes… not only does her stage experience make her a pro as she “performed” in front of my camera… not only is she STUNNING… but she had me in tears telling me stories of how Jesus used her and her team to touch the lives of children in the hard to reach mountains of Exuma. This girl’s passion for Jesus and making His name known encouraged my heart in ways words can not describe. Nothing matters more than glorifying His name. There is no inconvenience when there is an opportunity to share His love.

Casalee, as I have edited your photos and thought back over our time together, Proverbs 31:25 keeps coming to my mind.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”

This verse describes you so well, dear friend. I feel so much excitement as you step into a new season. Holy Spirit has such beautiful plans for you, precious one! You carry revival where ever you go! Spread the FIRE!

Abigail Grace Wilkerson | Senior Portraits | The Town of Livingston

Abigail: father rejoiced or father’s joy. Gives joy. The intelligent, beautiful Abigail was King David’s third wife, described as “good in discretion and beautiful in form.”

Grace: the free and unmerited favor of God, as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings.

Abby Wilkerson, the name your parents gave you was a prophetic word of the beautiful, intelligent, blessing of a young lady you are today!

I first met Abby in the spring of 2011. I was working with her dad Kelly at Morgan White Group  and our department decided to have a BBQ to meet everyone’s families. I was also living at We Will Go Ministries where she served with her mom Amy, sister Katie, and their homeschool co-op group CHEC. Shortly after I moved overseas, her family sold their home and moved on base to serve full time with We Will Go. Over the years I have had the honor of watching Abby grown into a beautiful, talented young woman with a BIG heart for Jesus and love for His people.

Abby not only smart, but a hard worker! While still in high school, she has been dual enrolled at Holmes Community College. She will continue her education at the same community college this fall, taking full advantage of scholarships offered. She then plans to transfer to Mississippi State University, her parent’s alma mater.

Abby and I had so much fun at her senior portrait session at the Town of Livingston! This girl is so fun to laugh with and I was so pleased to capture her joy and laughter in the images from her session! I love to pray over my clients as I edit their photos, and I can feel the Lord’s excitement over Abby’s future! Abigail Grace – keep your eyes on Jesus and hold His hand tightly as you take each step. Your Heavenly Father delights in you, beautiful girl! And He has amazing plans for you!!

Jade Lott | Teen Girl Mini-Session | Highland Village

With this beautiful face featured on my website and shared so much this last week on both my Facebook and Instagram, I thought I should take a minute to introduce you to my friend Jade now that I have my blog up.

I first met Jade and her family several years ago while I was a missionary at We Will Go Ministries in downtown Jackson, MS. Jeff & Star Lott brought their kids to serve along side us as we fed the hungry and loved the homeless in one of the hardest parts of our city. I remember so clearly a very special service where our friend David Waggner prophesied powerfully over them about a kid’s ministry they would start. I am sure that if I dug through old voice recordings I would find that service and his exact words, but what I will never forget is how powerfully Holy Spirit spoke life into a dream that Jeff and Star had already been praying into! Jeff & Star were quick with their obedience and soon launched City Lights Ministries! Lee and I have both had the honor to minister at City Lights many times over the years, sharing stories from all our missionary journeys.

Jade was just a kid when I moved overseas. She was cute as a button, full of confidence, and fierce on skates! I was so excited when we enrolled my bonus daughter Annslea at Hartfield Academy last year, ran into the Lott family at orientation and found out that Annslea and Jade would be in eighth grade together!! I know without a doubt that when Annslea spends time with Jade’s family that they are speaking TRUTH into her life, and I hope trust that we are doing the same when Jade comes to stay with us.

One of my favorite things about photography is capturing natural beauty, especially in young teenage girls. Social media and Hollywood give them a very unrealistic image to strive for, and I want to call out the beauty in each one of them! I want them to see that they are beautifully and wonderfully made in the image of God! That He knit them together in their mother’s womb, and that he has good plans for them!! Will you join with me in affirming not only Jade, but all the young girls in our lives, that they are beautiful, they are worthy of pure and innocent love, they are delighted in by their Heavenly Father, and He has amazing plans for them!!

Schopmeyer Kids | Natchez Trace Overlook

One of my favorite things about photography is that I have the honor of capturing images that tell a story… and Maya Schopmeyer and I have a good one to tell!

Maya and I knew one another in high school, but didn’t really get to know one another until we began working for the same law firm in our early 20’s. While we both had grown up in church, neither of us was walking with Jesus at the time… but little did we know this would be a friendship that would change us both for all eternity!

In January of 2004 Maya and I were roommates and best friends, and we both began to hunger for something that we couldn’t quite figure out. This hunger led us to Pinelake Church where we both truly encountered Jesus and His life changing power! We were both baptized in the early months of that year and began the journey of a lifetime… following Jesus!

Here it is 14 years later (where does the time go!!)… Maya is a pastor’s wife, I am a missionary… we have prayed and supported one another through so many trials and celebrations that that it would take a book to write it all!! (Hum… maybe we should pray into writing that…) But please ask us! We both love sharing and giving Jesus all the Glory for what He has done in our lives!

When I look at these images, I not only see a beautiful mom and her three amazing children, I see the best friend a girl could ever ask for. I see Katelyn & Ava, beautiful twin girls, and I remember a quick meeting in a parking lot in 2013 just a couple of days before we both left to visit different parts of the world… a quick meeting so Maya could tell me she was expecting! I remember a couple of months later, on a rare day that I was able to check my email in Mozambique, Africa, reading an update about her pregnancy, seeing the word BABIES and being overwhelmed by tears of JOY!! I remember the countless times I laid hands on Maya’s belly and prayed protection over these babies as Maya spent the last three months of this pregnancy on bedrest. And see that beautiful baby boy? Jesus is so amazing that He allowed my best friend and I to experience pregnancy at the same time! Little Joshua and my Pippa were born just a few months apart!

As I edited these images, the Lord spoke to me about the beauty of redemption, of the blessings of a strong spiritual heritage, and the legacy that Chris & Maya Schopmeyer are building through these mighty warriors for the Kingdom.

What an honor to capture the images that tell your story.
