Fall Natchez Trace Engagement Session

Fall engagement session

Alexia + Hunter’s Natchez Trace Engagement Session

There are SO MANY reasons why I am excited to blog this fall Natchez Trace engagement session!! First, Alexia + Hunter are the the sweetest and most fun couple ever! Second, my associate photographer Tara shot this session! I was there as a second photographer just to back her up on her first engagement session with me. When I uploaded the images from both of our memory cards, I had to look at the metadata to know whose images were whose!! I love how Tara is able to match my style seamlessly.

Even though Tara will be the photographing Alexia + Hunter’s wedding day, I still am still able to get to know my amazing Meridith Lee couples! I loved “meeting” Alexia + Hunter during their Zoom consult, and it was even more fun to spend time with them as a second photographer at their engagement session. While I will only be second shooting a handful of engagement sessions with Tara, investing in a relationship with all Meridith Lee couples will remain a priority! Helping my brides plan all the details of their perfect day, and supporting my couples with prayer and encouragement will always be a big part of the Meridith Lee Wedding Experience!

How they met…

When I asked Alexia how they met, she replied “We met at Mississippi College, mostly through FCA lead team! He played baseball and I played softball. We were actually both short-stops.. ha! We met sophomore year and were very good friends for about a year and a half before we started dating! Hunter jokes a lot about me putting him in the friend-zone 🙈”

How He proposed…

He told me we had a wedding to go to in Columbus for one their family friends. They made it very believable – there actually was a wedding so that helped! There were too many of us to fit in one car, so Hunter and I drove separately. Turns out, we turn into one of his family friends house where there were rows of sunflowers that Hunter had planted himself!!! He planted them 3 months before! I love sunflowers and we always try to find sunflower fields, so I was absolutely impressed. He told me he had planted them for one reason, and got down on one need to ask me to marry him! It was the most perfect day!

My Prayer For You!

As I edited these images, I have prayed for you and your future marriage. The verse that keeps coming to my mind is 1 Corinthians 16:14. “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.” This is such a key to all relationships, but especially marriage. I pray that you will not allow pride into your relationship, but that you will stay humble and patient with one another, considering one another’s needs above your own. I pray that you will grow in your love for one another as you draw closer to Jesus.

It is such an honor to know you and pray with you through this season! And I hope you love these images from your engagement session as much as I do!!

Clinton, MS Engagement Session | Allison and Gerard

Clinton Mississippi Engagement

Allison & Gerard’s Clinton, MS Engagement Session was an absolute dream to capture! The Clinton Nature Trails was the perfect location for these two nature lovers. I loved having all the natural layers to include in their images!

How they met…

Allison says, “I’m on the local art council, and every year we host a free children’s art festival for children in Starkville. I was working a drawing booth, and Gerard was assigned as my volunteer! We worked together all day, and then both decided to exchange numbers after that. We found out later that, unbeknownst to us, we had been set up by the volunteer coordinator!”

How he popped the question…

We were at a conference in Banff, Canada, and I left the conference early so we could go hiking. He took me off the trail a little ways through and got down on one knee. It was the perfect setting over beautiful Lake Louise.

My prayer for you…

Allison & Gerard, I am praying for peace for you both as you plan your dream wedding in the midst of so much uncertainty. I pray that you will experience the peace that surpasses all understanding. I am also praying that every detail of your wedding day will come together perfectly, even better than you dreamed!

Natchez Trace Engagement Session

Natchez Trace Engagement

Amanda & Asa’s Natchez Trace engagement session was an absolute dream to capture!

After just one Zoom meeting and an engagement session, I am so thankful to call Amanda & Asa friends. Getting to know this sweet couple and their story. Finding so many connecting points. It has truly been a dream! They are even sweeter than they are beautiful. When they walked up, I could feel the atmosphere shift as I was overwhelmed by the JOY of the Lord that they carry!

How they met…

Asa and I met in college. We were in the same English class and were COMPLETE opposites. He sat in the back and I sat up front. He was the class clown and I was quiet. He loved answering questions while I was fine just listening to everyone else answer out loud.

After the class ended we lost touch. Then in summer of 2017 he sent me a message just asking how my summer was going. From that one message we started talking everyday.

Once school started back in August, we met up at Cups for a “quick conversation”. We talked for 3 hours that day and could have easily kept going, but it started to rain on us. A few weeks and a couple dates later he officially asked me to be his girlfriend and it has been a dream ever since!

How he proposed…

I had just started working as a nurse and I was stressed all the time! He had decided that what I needed was a nice dinner date just the two of us. He told me to get dresses up and he would take me to my favorite restaurant, anywhere that has carbs lol.

After getting ready and hopping in the car he said we should stop by Mississippi College just to see how much it has changed since we graduated. I, of course, am a sentimental person and was all aboard.

We parked and sat on the swings where he asked me to be his girlfriend and we talked about adult life, our college lives and what we thought the future would hold. As we got up to leave, he bent down on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was the easiest yes of my life.

Prayer

Amanda & Asa, Lee & I have enjoyed praying for you from the day you inquired! As I have already told you, as Lee was praying the morning of our Zoom meeting, He felt the Lord impress on him that we would have a Holy Spirit connection! While the Lord has already used you to encourage me and confirm some next steps for me, I am super excited to see what else He has in store for our friendship!

As I have prayed for you I keep sensing the word STRONG. Specifically the words of Paul in Ephesians 6:10 come to mind. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.” The Lord is giving you great strength that will grow even stronger as you grow in unity with Jesus and one another.

In this passage, Paul goes on to say, “put on the full armor of God, so that you will able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” Jesus said that in this word we will have trouble, but take heart! He has overcome the world! And He gives us everything we need to walk hand-in-hand with Him in victory!

The strength that He is building in you, He will use to strengthen other around you. I see people coming to you discouraged by overwhelming problems, and Jesus flowing His strength through you so that the one who was discouraged leave not only encouraged, but also empowered!

He has mighty plans for you and your marriage!

Madison + Zach | Ole Miss Engagement Session

Ole Miss Engagement

Madison + Zach made my photographer dreams come true with their Ole Miss engagement session this week! I have wanted a session on a university campus. When they asked if I was willing to drive to Oxford I may have screamed a very excited “YES!!”

Madison and Zach grew up in the same small town of Philadelphia, Mississippi. They went to high school and college together. They have grown up together and now they are excited to spend the rest of their lives together as husband and wife!

I am so in love with these images we created together! But even more than that, I am so excited to know this sweet couple.

Madison & Zach, I have prayed for you as I edited these images. The word the Lord kept bringing to my mind is “steady.” According to Merriam-Webster, the word steady means

  1. direct or sure in movement; firm in position.
  2. showing little variation or fluctuation.
  3. not easily disturbed or upset; constant in feeling, principle, purpose, or attachment, DEPENDABLE.

What beautiful qualities to have as both an individual AND in a marriage!

Psalm 119:133 says “Make my steps steady through Your promise.” This is now my declaration over you and your marriage. And I think I’ll start declaring this over my own marriage as well!

Madison & Zach, thank you for taking time to show me around campus during your Ole Miss engagement session! Thank you for trusting me as I “followed the light” to find the perfect locations for your session! Thank you for sharing your hearts, and listening as I shared mine. It is an honor to know you, and I am excited to celebrate your marriage with you in December!

Christana + Andrew | Livingston Mississippi Engagement Session

Chapel of Livingston Mississippi Engagement Session

Livingston Mississippi Engagement Session

Christana + Andrew’s Livingston Mississippi engagement session at the Town of Livingston was such a dream to edit!! I just love how my associate Whitney captured the love and joy these two have for one another perfectly!

I first connected with Christana + Andrew after publishing out a blog post of their friends Victoria + Drew’s engagement session! Christana was in love with the images and already wanted to connect even before she and Andrew were officially engaged!

Fast forward to Victoria + Drew’s wedding day where Andrew was a groomsman, and I was so excited to meet this joyful couple! At one point in the day when Christana was not around, Andrew shared his proposal plan with me! It was so fun to hear how he was planning to pop the question MONTHS before the proposal took place!!

Keep reading for more of their story, and to see my favorite images from their Livingston Mississippi Engagement Session!

How they met…

Andrew and I met through mutual friends. Andrew was a part of Mississippi State’s BYX chapter, and I was a coworker with one of his friends, Max. Max invited me to a date party where I was able to meet and develop friendships throughout BYX. Andrew and I did not officially get to know each other until my junior year (his sophomore year) when we were in the same chemistry class together. He was also living with a group of BYX guys that I would always hang out with.

We started hanging out more and wanted to get to know each other more after Thanksgiving. Our friendship grew stronger from Thanksgiving through the end of the school year. After our chemistry final, we celebrated with Cook Out milkshakes and driving around North Farm. That was when we found out how we felt about each other. We continued to get to know each other over Christmas and into the start of the year before he asked me at a basketball game to be his girlfriend.

How he popped the question…

Over Christmas break when we wanted to get to know each other even more, Andrew visited me in Georgia. Because neither of us have really ever toured downtown Atlanta, we decided to make it a day trip. We visited the World of Coke, road the Skyview Atlanta ferris wheel, and walked around Centennial Olympic Park. My mother bought bricks for my family during the 1996 Olympics, and they were hidden somewhere in the park. So, Andrew and I went on a hunt to find the bricks. My mom has never been able to find them, so we told her that we will all visit the bricks some time in the future.

Fast forward three years later, Andrew and I were visiting my mother for Christmas. Us three along with my mom’s friends all went downtown for the day. We showed her the bricks, and Andrew proposed at my family’s bricks in the park. He was worried I would see it on the way there so he also hid the engagement ring box in his sock. It also was the day of the Clemson-Oklahoma game so we had a lot of cheers going on during the moment. We even had a security officer ride around us on a bike helping film the moment.

My prayer for you…

Christana + Andrew, it has been such a joy to get to know you over the past year, and I am so excited for your upcoming wedding!

I am not only praying for every detail of your wedding day to come together perfectly, but I am also praying for your marriage. You both radiate the JOY of the LORD, and I pray that you are always reminded that The Joy Of The Lord Is Your STRENGTH! Hard times will come, but He is faithful to see you through!

Mississippi Winter Engagement Session | Jordan + Lance

Mississippi Winter Engagement

Oh what a joy it was to spend time with Jordan + Lance this week capturing their Mississippi winter engagement session! We met at The Town of Livingston and I love how their session turned out!

Jordan + Lance grew up in the same town, knew the same people, had many of the same friends… but somehow they never met! Until one day Jordan popped up in Lance’s Facebook feed. He sent her a friend request, asked her out on a date, and the rest is history!

I asked Jordan how he popped the question. She says, “Lance told me he was getting an award at the Air Guard Base. He told me to dress up and wear a sun dress because we would be in pictures. His Commander met us with the award and we walked out on the flight line to the back of the airplane where the “award” would be presented. I turned to see our families with a sign hanging “Will You Marry Me?” and my little nephew (Eli) holding a sign “Turn Around Jo” I turned around to Lance on one knee asking me to marry him.”

Good job Lance!

Jordan + Lance, I have prayed for you as I edited your session. As I pray I feel the Lord’s pleasure and excitement over the two of you becoming one! He has such amazing plans for you to advance the Kingdom together!

Below are just a few of my favorites from this beautiful Mississippi winter engagement session! I hope you love them as much as I do!

Downtown Raymond Engagement Session | Anna + Wes

Downtown Raymond Engagement Session

I am so excited to share Anna + Wes’s downtown Raymond engagement session on the blog! Anna + Wes are so full of joy and love for one another, and it really shows in their images!

I had the best time walking around downtown Raymond finding the perfect spots for their engagement session. Their sweet fur babies were troopers and joined in the fun perfectly!

Anna + Wes, I have prayed for you as I have edited your gallery, and the Holy Spirit has given me Romans 15:5-6 to pray over you.

“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

I am praying for peace and harmony to reign in your relationship. The Lord intends for your marriage to be a beautiful picture of Christ and the Church! As you draw closer to Him and to one another, many will see His love through you and be drawn into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ!

I have loved editing these images from your downtown Raymond engagement session! I hope you love them as much as I do!

Caroline + Ian | A Town of Livingston Engagement Session

Mississippi Engagement Session

It was such a joy to finally meet Caroline + Ian in person Friday afternoon at their Town of Livingston Engagement Session! Caroline first inquired with me about her May 2020 wedding at First Baptist Church of Jackson in June after seeing my work from two friend’s weddings at the same venue. With busy summer schedules we decided on a FaceTime call instead of a coffee date for their initial client meeting. Even over FaceTime I fell in love with this couple and their hearts for Jesus as we shared stories and talked about wedding plans!

How They Met

Caroline + Ian went to school together starting in the seventh grade. They had classes together throughout the years, but did not start hanging out consistently until after high school ended because they both had high school boyfriend/ girlfriend who were in different schools. They became good friends hanging out with groups. As high school was ending the relationship became something more once college started!

How Ian Proposed

While taking pictures on a beach trip with Caroline’s family, Ian got down on one knee asking her to marry him! Little did Caroline know, his mom had also driven down as a surprise! Caroline says “it was a dream!”

Prayers & Encouragement

Caroline + Ian, as I have edited these images I have prayed for you and your relationship. I am so honored by your prayers over me, my family and our ministry at the end of our session!! I know that the Lord has such big plans for you and your marriage! As I have prayed for you, the Holy Spirit gave me a picture of the two of you marching forward. Your arms were linked together and you were marching in perfect step with one another. Instead of the serious face of a soldier, your faces were RADIATING with JOY as to steadily took new ground for the Kingdom of Heaven! I am so excited to watch as His plans for you unfold!

Below are a few of my favorite images from your Town of Livingston Engagement Session! I hope you love them as much as I do!
