Livingston Mississippi Engagement Session

Christana + Andrew’s Livingston Mississippi engagement session at the Town of Livingston was such a dream to edit!! I just love how my associate Whitney captured the love and joy these two have for one another perfectly!

I first connected with Christana + Andrew after publishing out a blog post of their friends Victoria + Drew’s engagement session! Christana was in love with the images and already wanted to connect even before she and Andrew were officially engaged!

Fast forward to Victoria + Drew’s wedding day where Andrew was a groomsman, and I was so excited to meet this joyful couple! At one point in the day when Christana was not around, Andrew shared his proposal plan with me! It was so fun to hear how he was planning to pop the question MONTHS before the proposal took place!!

Keep reading for more of their story, and to see my favorite images from their Livingston Mississippi Engagement Session!

How they met…

Andrew and I met through mutual friends. Andrew was a part of Mississippi State’s BYX chapter, and I was a coworker with one of his friends, Max. Max invited me to a date party where I was able to meet and develop friendships throughout BYX. Andrew and I did not officially get to know each other until my junior year (his sophomore year) when we were in the same chemistry class together. He was also living with a group of BYX guys that I would always hang out with.

We started hanging out more and wanted to get to know each other more after Thanksgiving. Our friendship grew stronger from Thanksgiving through the end of the school year. After our chemistry final, we celebrated with Cook Out milkshakes and driving around North Farm. That was when we found out how we felt about each other. We continued to get to know each other over Christmas and into the start of the year before he asked me at a basketball game to be his girlfriend.

How he popped the question…

Over Christmas break when we wanted to get to know each other even more, Andrew visited me in Georgia. Because neither of us have really ever toured downtown Atlanta, we decided to make it a day trip. We visited the World of Coke, road the Skyview Atlanta ferris wheel, and walked around Centennial Olympic Park. My mother bought bricks for my family during the 1996 Olympics, and they were hidden somewhere in the park. So, Andrew and I went on a hunt to find the bricks. My mom has never been able to find them, so we told her that we will all visit the bricks some time in the future.

Fast forward three years later, Andrew and I were visiting my mother for Christmas. Us three along with my mom’s friends all went downtown for the day. We showed her the bricks, and Andrew proposed at my family’s bricks in the park. He was worried I would see it on the way there so he also hid the engagement ring box in his sock. It also was the day of the Clemson-Oklahoma game so we had a lot of cheers going on during the moment. We even had a security officer ride around us on a bike helping film the moment.

My prayer for you…

Christana + Andrew, it has been such a joy to get to know you over the past year, and I am so excited for your upcoming wedding!

I am not only praying for every detail of your wedding day to come together perfectly, but I am also praying for your marriage. You both radiate the JOY of the LORD, and I pray that you are always reminded that The Joy Of The Lord Is Your STRENGTH! Hard times will come, but He is faithful to see you through!

Jessica + Wade | A Town of Livingston Engagement Session

Mississippi Engagement Session

I loved my time with Jessica + Nathan at their Town of Livingston Engagement Session last week! Jessica and I had only met via FaceTime over the summer for her bridal consult, and I was so excited to meet this couple in person! Jessica + Wade also brought along their beautiful fur baby Echo to join in the fun!

How They Met

When asked how they met, Jessica shared with me that she and Wade were high school sweethearts. “The first time I saw Wade it was the day of a big grade-wide exam. I wasn’t interested at first, but my friend took one look at him and told me, “you’re going to date him”. I told her she was crazy. Just a few short months later, after switching classes to avoid an unwanted teacher, I found myself sitting in front of this boy in my new US History class. A couple days later, I received a Facebook Message (so retro) asking about homework ~that we totally didn’t have yet because school had just started~.”

“He proceeded to ask me out three different times before my mom persuaded me to “give the boy a chance”. For our first date, we got dinner and went to a movie. He picked me up, dropped me off, and introduced himself to my parents. Who would have know that 7 years later, we would be where we are now!”

How He Proposed

I especially love their engagement story. “Christmas Day 2017 we were at his mother’s house with her whole side of the family. His mother has a tradition where she spends several months collecting the “perfect” ornament for each person that will be attending that year. She unwraps all of them, writes the year on the bottom, and decorates her tree with them. After gifts have been exchanged, everyone takes turns (oldest to youngest) to go up to the tree and try to guess which ornament is theirs for this year. I was the youngest person there that year and so I went last.”

“I went up to the tree, circled it a few times, and was a little confused because my ornament was usually a Mississippi State ornament but there weren’t any on the tree. After a little prompting, I went back around to the back of the tree and found my ornament. It was an ornament shaped like an engagement ring box popped open just like a proposal. I thought, surely this isn’t mine, but I took it off the tree and walked back around to see Wade in front of his family down on one knee with another box in his hand. I barely uttered a yes to his question before jumping into his arms and putting my real ring on my finger. He knew that Christmas holds a really special place in my heart but this was for sure was the best Christmas ever.”

Prayer

Jessica + Wade, as I have edited the images below I have prayed for you and your relationship. The word that keeps coming to my mind as I pray is HOLY. The Lord desires for your marriage to be a beautiful example of the passionate and holy love that Jesus has for His bride, and that the bride has for Him! He has such amazing plans for the two of you, walking in unity, to advance the Kingdom of Heaven!

Jessica + Wade, I hope you enjoy my favorite images from you Town of Livingston Engagement Session!

Outdoor Engagement Session at Livingston

Mississippi Engagement Session

Ashley + Kirk’s Outdoor Engagement Session at the Town of Livingston was such a joy to capture! It was a joyful session full of laughter and perfect golden light!

I first met Ashley last year when she responded to our ad on Care.com looking for a babysitter for Isaac and Pippa. We interviewed several, but Ashley was the person we chose to watch out little ones three days a week so I could work. Isaac, Pippa and I all fell in love with her and are so thankful for the time she spent loving our precious little ones!

Ashley + Kirk met at Ole Miss and have moved to Jackson for Kirk to attend The University of Mississippi Medical School. They are planning a January destination wedding in Turks and Caicos!

Ashley + Kirk, I have prayed for you both as I edited your session and the word the Holy Spirit keeps giving me is JOY! I am praying abundant JOY over you both as you enjoy your engagement and wedding planning season. I am praying for a JOY FILLED wedding and honeymoon in the islands! The Lord has such good plans for you both, and I pray He will draw you deeper into His heart as you seek Him for each step of your journey together.

Below are a few of my favorite images from Ashely + Kirk’s engagement session.

Mississippi Engagement Session

Lindsey + Payton’s Town of Livingston engagement session was such a dream! Perfect light, beautiful setting, and a beautiful couple styled perfectly!

Have you ever met someone and though to yourself “these are people I want to hang out with”? You just feel at ease and at peace with them. That is exactly how I felt about Lindsey + Payton! We talked about world travel, good food, and how to make a homemade air conditioner. It was also fun to discover that I graduated from high school with Payton’s older sister! I just love those moments when histories cross paths and the world suddenly seems smaller.

Lindsey + Payton, I have prayed for you as I edited these beautiful images. As I prayed for you, Holy Spirit gave me a picture of a gentle stream of cool clear water. I have a sense of refreshing peace. I am praying for the Holy Spirit to fill each of you to overflowing with His refreshing peace so that you can overflow to those around you.

I am so excited to work with Bethany from Oak Experience on Lindsey + Payton’s May 2020 wedding at their home and land in Pelahatchie, MS! I know it will be a beautiful day full of joy and laughter! Below are my favorite images from their beautiful Town of Livingston engagement session.

Hannah + Dustin | Engagement Session at The Town of Livingston

Mississippi Engagement Session

I had the best time last week with Hannah + Dustin capturing their engagement session at The Town of Livingston and getting to know them both better! Engagement sessions are such a fun, relaxed time to not only capture beautiful images, but to build a friendship with my clients. My heart is to be a trusted friend and not just another vendor when I arrive on their wedding day!

Hannah and Dustin’s love story begins at a tailgate party on campus at Mississippi State University. Love blossomed and as Dustin’s graduation approached he invited Hannah to join him for a photo session to commemorate his coming graduation. They returned to the spot where they met and were posing for a picture when he got down on one knee and asked Hannah to spend forever with him!

Hannah and Dustin, I have prayed for you as I edited the images from our time together. As I have prayed the word JOY keeps coming to my mind. The Lord took me to Psalm 18:2 which says “The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. he is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.” I pray that the JOY of the LORD will fill you both, and that He will truly be your rock, fortress, shield and strength! He is worth of your all! He is the solid foundation upon which to build your marriage and future! He is faithful and trustworthy! I am also praying for every detail for your wedding to come together perfectly, and for the day to go smoothly. I am so excited and can’t wait to see you again in October!

Anna Leigh + Houston | Engagement

Mississippi Engagement Session

I had the best time getting to know Anna Leigh + Houston at their recent engagement session! My favorite story from our time together was how Houston presented Anna Leigh with a Bible with her soon-to-be new married name on it when he proposed to her.

I am so excited to capture their beautiful wedding in October and can’t wait to spend more time with this precious couple!

Anna Leigh + Houston, I have prayed for you as I edited these images, and it is no coincidence that the Lord keeps taking me back to Ecclesiastes 4:12 where He says, “a chord of three strands is not easily broken.” The Lord is weaving you two together. He is the third chord. And when you are united with Him and one another, no weapon formed against you shall prosper.

Rachel + Samuel | Engagement

Mississippi Engagement

Two students at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. A bus ride to orientation at the Jackson Free Clinic. Little did they know Jesus’ plans when they “happened” to sit beside one another. The ride that normally takes five minutes lasted an hour, and Rachel and Samuel talked the whole time. What began as a friendship slowly blossomed into more as they endured the rigorous schedule of first year. Papa God has been directing each of their paths to intersect at this time, and He has directed the converging into a single new path they are are beginning to walk together. Hand-in-hand with both one another and their Savior.

The day Samuel proposed seemed like a normal Sunday. Church together followed by lunch. During lunch there was a call from Samuel’s mom asking them to come to his sister’s art exhibit at the Fairview Inn. When they arrived, Samuel led Rachel to the garden and handed her an envelope addressed to his future wife. Rachel opened the envelope to find it empty, but then noticed a small burlap canvas on the ground nearby with words written on it. Samuel had written the parts of the letter out on different canvases and placed them throughout the garden. They walked through the garden and Rachel read each letter out loud. The last part of the letter was in the gazebo with roses. The letter ended with 2 Peter 3:18, “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” Rachel was shocked. This letter was written over three years ago… but even then the Lord knew that their pastor would preach a sermon on this verse, and only this verse, on this day. The day that Rachel would say “yes” to Samuel’s question, “Will you marry me?”

I so enjoyed getting to know Rachel and Samuel during their recent engagement session at The Town of Livingston! Not only can you see the love these two have for one another, but their hearts for Jesus shine clearly to everyone the meet. I am so excited for the plans God has for Rachel and Samuel, and I am honored to capture their love story as they become one in June!

Hayley + Ethan | Engagement Session

Mississippi Engagement

This past Saturday I met Hayley and Ethan at the Town of Livingston for their engagement session. I was quickly reminded why I love engagement sessions so much, and why they are such an essential part of my client experience! I was especially thankful when Hayley and Ethan agreed to travel from their college towns for a weekend in Mississippi for their engagement session with me! They are both in their final semesters of school… Hayley in Columbia, SC and Ethan outside of Atlanta, GA.

Hayley and Ethan met at Impact 360, a gap year Christian leadership program. After completing the one year program, their relationship has developed long distance as they have attended different universities. God’s plan for their relationship has not been deterred by the distance. This past fall, Ethan planned an epic mountain top proposal in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee! Hayley recalled Ethan rushing to the top as she wanted to stop to look at wildflowers and take in the sunset. Little did she know he had a big question to ask her once they reached the top! Hayley said that eventually they made it to the top where he stopped, got down on one knee, and asked the big question. “I screamed with joy and it was the most dreamy moment of my life for sure. His friends were hiding to take pictures. It was so beautiful and could not have been more perfect.”

But that’s not all. Afterwards he surprised her again. All their friends were in a cabin nearby ready to celebrate with them!

Throughout Hayley and Ethan’s engagement session we shared our hearts for Jesus. For me, the biggest highlight of what was a perfect session was when Ethan asked me to pray for them before we left. This missionary’s heart came even more alive in that moment, and it felt like Holy Spirit took over my mouth as His heart for this couple began to pour out through me. I can feel His excitement over the plans he has for Hayley and Ethan! His plans to advance His Kingdom through this couple in submission to Him, laying down their lives and taking up His cross.

It is such an honor to be able to capture this love story as He is writing it. I can’t wait to see Him glorified as these two become one in May!

Sydney Bearden | Senior Portraits

Mississippi Senior Girl

I had the best time with Sydney last Friday at the Town of Livingston for her Senior Portrait Session!

Sydney originally reached out to me back in January for her senior portrait sessions, and I am so thankful that we had such beautiful spring weather for her session on Friday! Sydney found me through her friend Hannah who is also a Meridith Lee Senior from earlier in the year!

Capturing Sydney with her beautiful blue eyes and radiant smile was such a joy and highlight to my week! I have enjoyed editing these images and thinking about our time together!

Sydney, I have prayed for you as I edit your images, and the verse that keeps coming to mind is Jeremiah 29:11 –

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

I pray that the Lord with give you abundant JOY and GRACE for this season of transition! I pray for PEACE that surpasses all understanding as you finish well your senior year and begin to step into a new season with more independence! Keep your eyes on Jesus, allow Him to guide your steps. He will lead you in triumphant processions!

Allison and Chris | A Town of Livingston Portrait Session

Town of Livingston, The Chapel at Livingston, Anniversary Portraits

Have you ever met someone and knew instantly that they were your kind of people? That’s how I felt when I met Allison and Chris for our portrait session on Tuesday! It was clear from the first moment I met them that these were two fun-loving people who were passionate about one another! Laid back, easy going and full of laughter, Allison and Chris braved the cold to meet me at the Town of Livingston near Flora, MS to capture these joy-filled images! As we walked around this small town and talked about the different paths life has taken us, we found so many points of intersection between my life and theirs! Not only do they know my bonus daughter Taylor, but Chris was an attorney at my uncle’s law firm and worked with my step-brother! Seriously, we had the BEST time!

Allison and Chris, as I have edited your images I have prayed over you both. The scriptures the Lord has given me for you is from Proverbs 15:15, “the cheerful heart has a continual feast” and from Proverbs 17:22, “a cheerful heart is good medicine.” Your laughter was certainly good medicine for me on a cold winter Tuesday and I am so thankful for our time together!!
